Plate "Purse" Carrier
Level:  Advanced

This month's Club Stamp kit was a wonderful glass plate with cool beautiful fabric paper.  We got to rubberstamp the plate and decoupage the fabric onto it.  I will not be going into detail on those steps because if you order the kit from Club Stamp - the instructions will come with it.  These instructions below will be for a "purse" to put the plate into - in the event you want to give it as a gift, as I did.  Now keep in mind, because the carrier is so large, you have to piece it together. It was too large to cut from a single sheet of paper.  So in order for it to be sturdy enough to hold the plate (as it is fairly heavy) be sure and securely fasten all the papers together using brads, eyelets, or a really good adhesive.  Most all materials shown in this project are from Club Stamp.

Supply List
pattern cardstock
Button snaps (for the purse closure)
Twine (for purse closure
Brads
Eyelets
Rubberstamps
Inks
Bone folder
Ribbon/Fibers (for handle of purse)
GOOD Adhesive (perhaps redline tape would work good)
Embellishments

Templates (once you click on these links, right click on the picture of the template and save to your computer.  These are full size templates, so they should be exactly the right size based on an 8.5 x 11 in piece of paper.  Some people have been having difficulties with the templates, not sure why, if you do - you may have to reduce the size to fit your printer settings and so I have included the dimensions just in case they are needed):
Front/Back of Purse (cut 2)
Sides of Purse (cut 2)
Bottom on Purse (cut 1)
Flap on Purse (cut 1)

Instructions:

  1. Cut out templates as specified above.
  2. Once all pieces are cut out, using bone folder and a ruler score all dashed lines.
  3. Ink edges and rubberstamp as needed at this point.  On the bottom piece I did use decorative scissors on the edges for a little fancier look.
  4. Attach bottom of purse to the front and back using eyelets and/or brads.  Make sure this is a good solid attachment, we wouldn't want the plate to fall through the bottom of the purse.
  5. Attach purse 'flap' to the back of the purse using brads and/or eyelets.  Fold over the flap and figure out where the button snaps closures should go, and attach them.
  6. To attach the sides, make all the folds and adhere using GOOD adhesive and brads/eyelets, again we don't want it coming apart and the plate sliding out.
  7. On the flap you can now add eyelets at the top about 3/4ths an inch from the edge and tie ribbon or fibers through for the handle.
  8. Now you can add embellishments, tags, etc as desired.

Good luck and have fun!!
