Hand-stitched Matchbox Album
Level of Difficulty: Advanced

This is the cutest little handstitched matchbox album.  Now you can modify this to hold as many or as few pages as you like.  I did three sets of pages, which creates a book 14 pages long.  So basically you create the album and attach it to two match boxes adding a ribbon to tie the whole thing together.  You could fill the little boxes with some treats, money, small gift, or even additional photos.   Most all materials used in this project is from  Club Scrap.

Large Matchbox template

Instructions:

  1. Create two large matchboxes using matchbox template using plain card stock.
  2. Fold drawer and slider cut outs into matchboxes.  Adhere edges using glue dots.
  3. Cover cardstock with handmade paper using modge podge to adhere
  4. Rubberstamp sentiments on plain cardstock, use gold accent to edge mats and double mat, accenting second mat with gold as well.
  5. Rubberstamp sentiments on dark cardstock using versamark and emboss in gold embossing powder.
  6. Create drawer pulls by gluing decorative beads on end of box with Crafter’s pick glue. Let dry.
  7. Cut (3) 3.25 inch by 4.5 inch pieces of hand made paper.  Fold each in half.  Carefully take a bookbinding needle and poke 3 holes at the top and bottom of each page at ¼ inch, ½ inch, and 3/4ths inch.  Use standard bookbinding techniques to stitch the three pages together adding decorative beads.
  8. Cut 20 inch piece of ribbon and carefully adhere to front and back of the handstitched book by wrapping around center of the spine.
  9. Glue first page of the stitched book to one of the boxes and the last page to the other box using modge podge.
  10. Decorate pages of your book with photos, sentiments, etc.  Fill drawers with goodies, more photos, etc.

Have fun and good luck!
